What Are Warts?

A wart is a small, rough skin growth that is generally found on the hands and feet, however they can also pop up in different areas as well.

There are many different kinds of warts. Here is a list of the types:
  • Common Wart - These warts are mostly found on the hands and knees and are raised with a roughened surface.
  • Flat Wart - These warts are commonly found on the face, neck, wrists, hands and knees. They have a smooth, flattened appearance, are flesh colored and can often occur in large numbers.
  • Filiform or Digitate Wart - These warts are commonly found on the face, especially near the eye-lids or lips and they have a finger-like appearance.
  • Plantar Wart - These warts are mostly found on the soles of the feet. They are hard and can have several black specks in the center. These warts can also be painful.
  • Mosaic Wart - These warts mostly occur on the hands or feet. They are found in tight clusters and are similar to plantar warts.
  • Genital Wart - These are warts that appear on the genital area.
